Introduction
Human-wildlife conflict is a critical issue that threatens wildlife conservation and the livelihoods of communities near protected areas. In Mlele District, close to Katavi National Park, such conflicts involve crop destruction, livestock predation, and economic loss, creating a need for sustainable coexistence strategies. This study focuses on understanding these conflicts and developing practical, community-driven solutions.
Problem Statment
Mlele District, adjacent to Katavi National Park, experiences significant human-wildlife conflicts, leading to economic losses for communities and retaliatory actions against wildlife. These conflicts stem from habitat encroachment, resource competition, and inadequate mitigation strategies. Addressing these challenges is vital for promoting conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
General Research Objective
To assess human-wildlife conflicts in Mlele District and develop strategies for coexistence.
