Autobiography

I am motivated to learn and study butterflies and moths. I did my Master's dissertation on the biodiversity of Lepidoptera pollinators in the East Usambara Mountains in 2018. I have worked on a few research studies such as hawkmoth diversity in the East Usambara Mountains, and the diversity of moths along the urbanisation gradient in Dar es Salaam. In 2023, I joined Adam Mickiewicz University, UAM in Poznań, Poland as a PhD student through a project, “Success of a widespread butterfly: Local adaptation or phenotypic plasticity?”, grant 2021/43/B/NZ8/00966. The project is funded by NCN, Poland. It is led by Prof. UAM, Ph.D. Freerk Molleman. We aim to investigate to which extent the populations of the widespread butterfly, Melanitis leda have adapted to climate and habitat change. To achieve that goal, we will (a) reconstruct the phylogeography of a species (b) create a geographic global distribution of the polymorphic colour pattern traits and (c) describe seasonal phenotypic plasticity under different climates.
