Autobiography

My name is Henry Simon Gaganija, an environmental scientist and conservation researcher with a strong academic and professional background in ecosystem management and biodiversity conservation. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences and Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture and am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biodiversity Conservation at the University of Dar es Salaam. My current research focuses on chimpanzee nesting habitat modeling in Gombe National Park, where I apply spatial ecology tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and Species Distribution Modeling (SDM) to understand habitat suitability and inform conservation planning. Professionally, I have worked as an Environmental Scientist with KASKIM Company Limited, where I participated in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and ecological studies for various proposed projects in Tanzania. This experience strengthened my skills in environmental data analysis, field assessment, and the application of scientific approaches in environmental management and wildlife conservation. I am passionate about integrating spatial science and field ecology to support evidence-based conservation decisions, particularly within Tanzania’s protected areas and critical wildlife habitats.
