Autobiography

Dr. Lasway's career is marked by his dedication to wildlife management and ecological research. He is currently a senior lecturer in the Wildlife Management Department at the College of African Wildlife Management (CAWM) in Mweka, Tanzania. He is also a contracted lecturer at Sokoine University of Agriculture. As a community ecologist, his research interests encompass pollination ecology, mountain ecosystems, and plant-pollinator interaction networks. His doctoral research, in particular, focused on how human land use, specifically agriculture and livestock grazing, affects bee communities and plant-bee interactions in both natural and human-altered landscapes. His findings from research in northern Tanzania indicated that low levels of grazing could sometimes benefit bee species by proliferating flowering plants, but that higher grazing intensity and climatic warming could negatively impact bee populations.
