Autobiography
My research interests lie in exploring how large mammal herbivores and fire shape vegetation patterns, and vice versa. Fundamental to determining herbivore effects on ecosystems is understanding what determines spatio-temporal variation in their abundance. My recent research in the Serengeti Ecosystem investigates how gut parasite infection levels influence wildebeest movement and diets, with a broader objective of assessing how different regions of the ecosystem contribute to determining population size over time. I also have a background of researching grass traits and life histories, with a strong interest in how communities are assembled across environmental gradients.
