Autobiography

Since 2018, I deal with vocal communication, censuses and nest surveying of waterbirds and large raptors. I am experienced in bioacoustics, passive acoustic monitoring of the biological communities in mountain and river ecosystems and line-transects surveys of diurnal birds of prey. Currently, I’m working on ecology and demography of the secretarybird in northern Tanzania. My scientific focus is animal behaviour, and in particular how birds change their habits in relation to different environmental conditions or threats. After 2 years of work in the Serengeti ecosystem, I gained experience in secretarybird handling and tagging. I quickly adapt to new environments and easily establish fruitful relationships with authorities and personnel of the protected areas; I am willing to share my knowledge and provide training on different aspects of animal behaviour, wildlife management techniques and analysis of ecological data. Currently I am completing a PhD programme at the University of Pavia.
