Autobiography
Said Diwani Mshana, born on December 21, 1979, in Usangi, Mwanga-Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, is an experienced and dedicated conservation officer with a strong background in wildlife management and environmental conservation. He holds a BSc in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture and has completed additional training in database management and various conservation programs.
Said’s career began as a tutor in Tourism education institution before transitioning to wildlife conservation in 2008, when he joined Selous Game Reserve. Over the years, he has held several key roles, including Head of Tourism and Database at Selous, Assistant National Coordinator for Malihai Clubs of Tanzania, Deputy Zonal Commander for anti-poaching operations in Northern Zone, and Zonal Coordinator for Malihai Clubs in the Lake Zone. From 2020 to 2022, he managed the Lukwika Lumesule and Msanjesi Game Reserves.
Currently, Said serves as the Assistant Conservation Commissioner at the Southeastern Zonal Office of the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA), where he oversees tourism and wildlife conservation efforts across multiple reserves and ruins. Fluent in Swahili, English, and Pare, he has contributed to various publications on conservation, including research on anthrax outbreaks in wildlife, sustainable wetland management, and faith-based values for biodiversity conservation in Tanzania.
Said has also participated in international training on biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable development, further enhancing his expertise in the field. His career reflects a deep commitment to environmental sustainability and the protection of Tanzania's wildlife.
