Elisante Kimambo graduated from the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Tanzania in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management. During his studies, he gained experience in social and ecological surveys and participated in various forums, workshops, and training programs. These included initiatives addressing the poaching crisis, wildlife and tourism challenges in Tanzania, raising conservation awareness among university students, and introductions to R-software, QGIS, and ODK programs. From 2015 to 2017, Elisante worked as a researcher in a multidisciplinary team, further honing his expertise in wildlife conservation. In 2018, he joined the Ruaha Carnivore Project (RCP) as a Research Assistant. At RCP, he focused on large carnivore ecology and developing mitigation measures to reduce human-carnivore conflicts. His responsibilities included managing the large carnivore sightings program and databases, training tour guides on individual lion identification in Ruaha National Park, and contributing to education and outreach initiatives such as DVD nights, boma buildings (livestock enclosures), and school feeding programs. From 2021 to the present, Elisante is the co-founder and serves as the HR and Administration Manager of the Tanzania Research and Conservation Organization (TRCO). He is actively involved in conservation projects, focusing on the conservation of pangolins, elephants, and giraffes across key Tanzanian landscapes, including wildlife corridors such as Kwakuchinja, Nyerere-Selous-Udzungwa, Amani-Nilo, Ruaha-Rungwa-Katavi, Rungwa-Inyonga, and Muyowosi-Kigosi-Burigi-Chato. He plays a pivotal role in giraffe conservation efforts across various protected areas in Tanzania. As a co-founder of TRCO, Elisante continues to drive innovative conservation strategies and community engagement initiatives to ensure the sustainable coexistence of wildlife and local communities.
