Autobiography

Gasto`s Biography Gasto Lyakurwa is a lecturer at the College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka, Tanzania, and PhD fellow at The Department of Recreations Parks and Tourism Management of Pennsylvania State University. In 2005, Gasto received an undergraduate degree in Wildlife Management from the Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania and an MSc. in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Zoology from the University of Western Australia. His research focuses on understanding human-wildlife conflicts and coexistence and how nature-based tourism benefits communities adjacent to national parks and promotes sustainable biodiversity conservation. He is also interested in human-wildlife interactions and the relationships between interactions with community livelihoods and sustainable wildlife utilization. With a rich and diverse experience spanning 17 years in the wildlife sector, Gasto has proven his mettle. He has served as a Park Warden, overseeing law enforcement and ecotourism in the renowned Serengeti National Park. Gasto's commitment to education is evident in his role as a teacher of wildlife management and biology courses at the College of African Wildlife Management Mweka. He has also contributed to the professional development of park rangers in Tanzania National Parks, training them on the use of Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) to enhance wildlife monitoring and patrol performance. Gasto's expertise has even reached international shores, as he has been involved in wildlife reintroduction programs at Sharaan Nature Resources in Saudi Arabia, where he trained rangers and monitored re-introduced wildlife.
