Autobiography

I am a wildlife ecologist with over a decade of experience advancing technological solutions to overcome critical conservation challenges worldwide. In my work with diverse sectors and stakeholders, I have led projects integrating in situ sensor networks (e.g., camera traps, acoustic sensors, eDNA) and AI-driven Big Data processing to drive significant impact in conservation management and global policy. My previous academic studies focused on lion and large carnivore ecology across Eastern and Southern Africa, and I have been involved in numerous rewilding and conservation initiatives. A key focus of my work is decolonizing the fields of ecology and conservation by supporting local and indigenous research communities. I firmly believe that empowering underrepresented groups generates innovative ideas, novel solutions, and diverse perspectives that engender conservation success. To this end, I have developed and led capacity building programs around the world, equipping participants with essential skills in data collection, processing, and science communication. I specifically focus on training women, individuals from working or marginalized backgrounds, and early career conservationists in developing nations.
