Sarah Benhaiem is a research scientist and, together with Sonja Metzger, coordinates the Serengeti spotted hyena project at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin, Germany (https://ecodynizw.github.io/team-individual.html). Her focus is on questions of behavioural ecology, ecology and conservation. She also works with demographers and other colleagues specialising in physiological aspects such as the microbiome, immune responses and epigenetics.
