Heribert Hofer is the director of the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research and prinziple investigator/senior scientist of the spotted hyaene project in Tanzania. His research fields and interests are behavioural and evolutionary ecology and conservation biology of mammals, evolutionary epidemiology of wildlife pathogens, stress and conservation physiology and land-use conflicts.
