Autobiography
I was born and raised in Jao Village, deep within Botswana’s Okavango Delta. As a seasoned waterman, I have unmatched expertise in navigating the intricate waterways of the Delta. My lifelong experience of maneuvering through channels, lagoons, and floodplains has honed my ability to read the water and wildlife with exceptional precision.
My deep connection to the water is marked by both triumph and survival. One of the defining moments of my life came when I survived a crocodile attack while polling my mokoro. Armed only with my Nkashi, the traditional polling stick, I fought off the predator and managed to escape. That experience was a true test of my strength, instincts, and understanding of the wild.
I’ve developed a remarkable skill for reading animal behavior, particularly hippos and crocodiles, ensuring the safety of those who travel with me. In addition to my traditional skills, I’m also a certified motorized boat captain and I own a speedboat that I use to transport locals and tourists across the Delta.
A man of the water, a survivor, and a skilled navigator, I bring courage and wisdom to every expedition in The Wilderness Project. Whether silently gliding through the Delta’s pristine wilderness or commanding the helm of my boat, I embody the spirit of adventure and survival that defines Africa’s great waterways.
