I am Oreneile Yeni, known as Mr 3 by my peers, and I was born and raised in the heart of the Okavango Delta. With extensive experience as a seasoned poler and a deep understanding of the surrounding wilderness, I have honed my expertise in navigating the intricate waterways of the Delta. My skills extend to handling encounters with hippos and crocodiles, as well as identifying a wide range of bird species. Currently, I am part of The Wilderness Project, where I contribute my invaluable knowledge to our mission of exploring, studying, and safeguarding kilometers of unprotected African wilderness. My experience plays a crucial role in navigating major river systems like the Zambezi, Congo, Niger, and Nile, ensuring safe passage through remote and challenging environments. With years of living and working in the Delta, I’ve developed a deep connection to nature, which allows me to interpret the landscape and animal behavior with precision. I am proud to be part of efforts that contribute to scientific research and help tell the powerful story of Africa’s endangered waterways.
