Autobiography
I am a Tanzanian conservation biologist and PhD candidate at Goethe University Frankfurt and guest researcher at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre. My academic journey began with a BSc in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture, followed by an MSc in Conservation Management of African Ecosystems, awarded through the prestigious Karimjee Conservation Scholarship. This program was jointly delivered by the University of Glasgow and the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology.
My research focuses on understanding the dynamics of biodiversity and ecosystem services across socio-ecological gradients, particularly within tropical montane systems. I am particularly interested in how land use, elevation, and climate influence the supply of material Nature’s Contributions to People (NCPs), such as timber, firewood, wild food, and medicinal resources. My methodological strengths lie in field-based ecological data collection, integration of social-ecological approaches, and advanced statistical modeling, including Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).
Professionally, I have worked as a research assistant with both the Tanzania National Parks and the Senckenberg Centre, where I contributed to interdisciplinary projects on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and conservation planning within the KiLi-SES (Kilimanjaro Social-Ecological Systems) project. I have presented my work internationally, including at the World Biodiversity Forum (Switzerland), the Ecological Society of America Annual Meeting (USA), and the ESP Europe Conference (Netherlands).
I am passionate about advancing conservation science that informs sustainable development and local livelihoods, especially in African ecosystems. My goal is to continue producing impactful, policy-relevant research that bridges ecological understanding with real-world conservation challenges.
