Autobiography
Kaiza R. Kaganzi is a dedicated wildlife conservationist with expertise in project management, research design, data analysis, and community-based conservation. He has collaborated with leading institutions such as the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI), York University, and the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) on conservation projects addressing climate adaptation, habitat restoration, and species conservation.
Kaiza has played a significant role in human-wildlife conflict mitigation and biodiversity conservation. He has led major conservation projects, including “Fostering Human-Elephant Coexistence in Villages Surrounding Tarangire National Park” and “Strengthening Conservation Initiatives for the Endangered Ashy Red Colobus Monkey in Northwestern Tanzania”. His work integrates remote sensing, GIS, and ecological monitoring to assess habitat suitability and guide conservation strategies.
As a Wildlife Expert and Research Assistant at the School for International Training (SIT-TZE), Kaiza teaches research methodologies and conservation techniques to international students. He has co-authored several publications, including:
• Cuni-Sanchez, A., et al. (2025). Perceived Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Responses in Ten African Mountain Regions. Nature Climate Change.
• Kaganzi, K. R., et al. (2021). Local Perceptions of Climate Change and Adaptation Responses from Two Mountain Regions in Tanzania. Land, 10(10), 999.
• Rapid assessment on Population and Spatial Distribution of the Ashy Red Colobus Monkey (Piliocolobus tephrosceles) in Community Forests in Biharamulo District, Northwestern Tanzania
Kaiza’s long-term goal is to develop nature-based solutions for biodiversity conservation and climate resilience, ensuring sustainable ecosystem management and strengthening local community engagement in conservation efforts.
