Autobiography
Emmanuel is a PhD Candidate at Maasai Mara University in Kenya, and a Director at the Kesho Trust, a local conservation NGO in Tanzania. He has a BA in Community Development from the University of Iringa Tanzania; MA in Geography, thesis on environment from the University of Victoria, Canada. He has more than 15 years of professional experience in project management, community-based conservation, and action-oriented research working mainly on community forests and Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECM). In particular, Emmanuel has research experience employing mixed-method designs of collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data using cloud-based software that enables data analysis and interpretations. He commands extensive research skills with increasing publication records. Emmanuel has been a Team Leader, Member, Principal Investigator, and Collaborator in various consultancies related to natural resources management, Climate Change, Pastoralism, Migration, and Community Livelihood Improvement Programmes. Relevant to this assignment, Emmanuel was
a team leader on various research projects by the Kesho Trust. Most recently, he has served as the Assistant team leader on a baseline survey project by the Kesho Trust, namely “Assessments of the Community-Smart Consultation and Consent (CSCC) Project, implemented by LANDESA in Kilombero and Kilosa Districts in Tanzania. Further, Emmanuel was a team member for a baseline project, namely “Baseline Assessment for a Project on Mitigation of Human-Wildlife Conflict in Tanzania”, a project of the Deustsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT). Most recently, Emmanuel has served as a team member in consultancy projects by PAICODEO (Tanzania), and Triple Alliance (Canada) on the development of Social Investment Programmes for Vulnerable Ethnic Groups Self-identifying as Indigenous People living along the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) in Tanga, Manyara, Dodoma, and Singida Regions in Tanzania. Just recently, Emmanuel, through PAICODEO, has been working on the Development of Severance Management Plans (SMPs) for a government mega project, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Lots 3, 4, & 5. In all consultancies, Emmanuel was key in the development of data collection tools, managing fieldwork for data quality control, analyzing, and reporting research findings.
